Originally started back in 1979, Ideal Steel was the original member of the Ideal Group.
But it all started with a little bit of luck…
Frank Venegas Jr. won a 1979 Cadillac Coupe deVille at the raffle during Livingston County Builders Gala Dinner Dance. After cruising in his new Cadillac for nine days, Frank decided to sell his prize car to start Ideal Steel & Builder’s Supplies, Inc.
Ideal Steel started off focusing mainly on house beams, steel I-beams, culverts, and columns for residential homes before moving into the small commercial industry.
Today, the family-owned MBE is a Southwest Detroit staple that continues to work on projects of all sizes around the state of Michigan and the United States. Focusing on Structural and Miscellaneous fabrication, Ideal Steel has a wide array of steel capabilties to fit any need.

For Ideal Group: “Safety Brings Us Home”
As part of our commitment to keeping our employees, clients, and the communities we work in safe, we’ve adopted a “safety first” culture. We encourage all employees to speak up and stop work if they see unsafe practices.
We initiated a safety campaign to engage employees’ families and implemented it at every Ideal Group facility and worksite. This program reinforces our safe working practices and how it impacts others, especially family members.
